French Classes for Kids

Premier Tuition Centre is excited to announce that we will be running French Classes for Kids this November in our centre in Castletroy. Shane, our resident French and Irish teacher, will teach the French language and culture in a fun and interactive way through songs, stories, games and role play. Currently teaching French and Irish in a local secondary school, Shane has seen first-hand the benefits of learning a second language at an early age.

So why should children learn a second language?

  • Research has shown that that knowing a second language has significant cognitive benefits – students are more creative, develop better problem-solving skills and perform better academically overall.
  • Children have a natural aptitude for learning languages. Those who learn a language at an early age find language learning easier when they grow older, and about 70% of second-level students study a foreign language up to Leaving Certificate.
  • People who know a second language have the ability to communicate with more people and benefit more fully from travel to other countries.
  • Knowing a second language can give people a competitive advantage in the workforce by opening up more job opportunities.

And why French?

  •  More than 220 million people speak French on the five continents.
  • French is the sixth most widely spoken language in the world.
  • The ability to speak French and English is an advantage on the international job market.
  •  France is the world’s top tourist destination and attracts more than 79.5 million visitors a year.
  • French is an official language of the United Nations, the European Union, UNESCO, NATO, the International Olympic Committee, the International Red Cross and international courts
  •  Fifty percent of current English vocabulary is derived from French.
